Our Vision

Acorn Academy is a vision for a mission-driven preschool rooted in faith, community, and excellent early education.

We believe children thrive in environments that are safe, beautiful, and full of curiosity. Our hope is to create a place where young children grow academically, socially, and spiritually during the most formative years of their development.

Situated in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, our preschool would serve families seeking a thoughtful, high-quality early childhood experience grounded in strong values and meaningful relationships.

In a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence and digital technology, we believe the role of education is not simply to deliver information, but to help form grounded human beings – children who know how to relate to others, exercise wisdom, create, explore, and live with joy.

Why We're Exploring This

Downtown Los Angeles is rapidly evolving from an industrial neighborhood into a residential one. Despite this growth, there remain few high-quality early childhood education options in the area.

At the same time, many families are increasingly interested in programs that combine strong academic foundations, language learning, and character development.

We are exploring the possibility of launching our preschool to meet this need, but before moving forward, we want to better understand whether there is genuine interest from families in the community.

This project is part of that early exploration.

Core Concepts

Early Childhood (Ages 2–5)
The preschool years are foundational for lifelong learning. We focus on this critical window, providing exceptional care and education when children are most naturally curious, adaptable, and eager to learn.
Unmatched Student-to-Teacher Ratios
Most preschool programs operate at the minimum student-to-teacher ratios required by law. We believe children learn best in small groups, where teachers can provide personalized attention and foster deeper engagement, rather than simply managing large classrooms.
Language-Rich Learning Environment
We incorporate Mandarin, Spanish, and Korean through songs, stories, and daily interaction – building confidence and cultural awareness during the years when language comes most naturally.
Faith-Based Values
Our school is rooted in Christian values such as kindness, integrity, humility, and love for others. We aim to cultivate character alongside intellectual growth in a welcoming environment for families of all backgrounds.
A Beautiful Urban Campus
Students will learn and play in a thoughtfully designed space in South Park that feels calm, safe, and inspiring – an oasis for children in the middle of the city.
Opening Timeline
Pending sufficient interest, we plan to open in Fall 2027.

About Us

Acorn Academy is an idea being explored by members of Tapestry LA, a local church rooted in the South Park community since 2014.

At the heart of our project is the belief that churches can play an important role in strengthening communities through the creation of spaces that nurture and serve families and children.
We are educators, parents, and professionals who care deeply about early childhood education and the long-term flourishing of families in this neighborhood. Our diverse team is comprised of members who work in teaching, school administration, technology, and architecture.
At this stage, we are exploring whether this vision resonates with families in DTLA and seeking to understand their needs.
