Our Vision
Tapestry Academy is a vision for a mission-driven preschool rooted in faith, community, and excellent early education.
We believe children thrive in environments that are safe, beautiful, and full of curiosity. Our hope is to create a place where young children grow academically, socially, and spiritually during the most formative years of their development.
Situated in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, Tapestry Academy would serve families seeking a thoughtful, high-quality early childhood experience grounded in strong values and meaningful relationships.
In a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence and digital technology, we believe the role of education is not simply to deliver information, but to help form grounded human beings – children who know how to relate to others, exercise wisdom, create, explore, and live with joy.
Why We're Exploring This
Downtown Los Angeles is rapidly evolving from an industrial neighborhood into a residential one. Despite this growth, there remain few high-quality early childhood education options in the area.
At the same time, many families are increasingly interested in programs that combine strong academic foundations, language learning, and character development.
We are exploring the possibility of launching Tapestry Academy to meet this need, but before moving forward, we want to better understand whether there is genuine interest from families in the community.
This project is part of that early exploration.
About Tapestry Academy
While the school is still in the vision stage, the concept we are exploring includes:
Mandarin-English Language Immersion
Early exposure to language is one of the most powerful learning opportunities in childhood. We are exploring a bilingual Mandarin-English program that introduces children to language and culture during the years when language acquisition comes most naturally.
Faith-Based Values
Tapestry Academy would be rooted in Christian values such as kindness, integrity, humility, and love for others. Our goal is to cultivate character alongside intellectual growth in a welcoming environment for families of all backgrounds.
A Beautiful Urban Campus
Students will learn and play in a thoughtfully designed space in South Park that feels calm, safe, and inspiring – an oasis for children in the middle of the city.
Focus on Early Childhood (Ages ~2–5)
The preschool years are foundational for lifelong learning. Our focus would be on providing exceptional care and education during this critical stage.
Opening Timeline
If there is sufficient interest and support, a potential launch timeline would be Fall 2027.
About Us
Tapestry Academy is an idea being explored by members of Tapestry LA, a local church rooted in the South Park community since 2014.
We are educators, parents, and professionals who care deeply about early childhood education and the long-term flourishing of families in this neighborhood. Our diverse team is built by members who work in teaching, school administration, technology, and architecture.
We believe churches can play an important role in strengthening communities through the creation of spaces that serve families and children in meaningful ways.
At this stage, we are simply exploring whether this vision resonates with families in DTLA.
